Henry introduced héliogravure (rotogravure) printing and paper backed vinyl to wallpaper. Inaltera produced surface print, hand flock, rotogravure, handprint, transfer print and many different types of textile wallcoverings. They also produced an ancient product based on casein (milk) inks.
In 1976 Inaltera S.A. created a subsidiary in New York City called Inaltera Wallcoverings Inc. This company imported the prestigious wallcoverings from France. Growth was strong as the quality products with an avante garde tendency gained international recognition. There were many famous installations of our products, including the White House and numerous stars.
Through mergers and acquisitions the fortunes of Inaltera SA changed for the good. In 1985, the current management of the US Company bought the shares from the French parent and changed the name to Wallquest Inc.
The company searched the world for unique, leading edge wallcovering products. The company operated as a converter and importer until it began producing domestically in Wayne, Pennsylvania in 1994.
Today Wallquest is one of the most innovative wallpaper manufacturers in the world. Quality, color and design, product innovation and unwavering dedication to tradition have earned the company a respected place in the global home furnishings sector. Its products are made in the United States and sold in more than sixty countries. In 2011 Wallquest was named as the Small Business Exporter of the Year by the US Export Import bank.
The company is now family owned and operated just like Henry Lafoy would have liked.
